Valves for district heating system
District heating is a sustainable and efficient way of supplying heat to residential, commercial, and industrial buildings through a centralized network. Hot water is produced in a central plant using gas, biomass, waste heat, CHP or renewable energy and distributed through insulated pipelines. To operate safely and efficiently, these networks rely on robust and reliable district heating valves for flow control, isolation and pressure management across the entire system. Ramén Valves provides high-performance control and isolation valves designed for demanding district heating applications.
Why valves are important in district heating systems
District heating networks must operate reliably year-round under demanding pressure and temperature conditions, with high requirements for safety, durability and energy efficiency. Valves are essential components throughout the district heating network and perform several critical functions, including:
• Flow control and regulation
• Isolation of pipeline sections
• Safe shut-off during maintenance
• Pressure and temperature management
• Protection of pumps and heat exchangers
Why choose Ramén Valves for district heating
District heating systems require valves that can handle hot water, continuous operation, and demanding pressure conditions. Our valves are well suited for district heating because they provide:
• Proven performance in hot water systems up to 16 bar(g) and 120°C
• Robust construction for continuous operation and long service life
• Reliable shut-off and stable flow control
• Compliance with European pressure equipment standards (PED)
• Solutions available across a wide size range
District heating in the Nordic region
The Nordic countries are global leaders in district heating. In Sweden, Denmark and Finland, district heating supplies a major share of residential and commercial heating demand. These systems are characterized by:
- High technical and safety standards
- Strong focus on sustainability and energy efficiency
- Extensive use of biomass, waste-to-energy and industrial surplus heat
- Well-developed distribution networks with long operational lifetimes
Our recommended valves for district heating
Need valves for your district heating system? Our engineers can help you select the right valve solution for your application.
Designed for the operational requirements of district heating networks across the full size range, with pressure ratings:
• DN25–DN50: PN40
• DN80–DN100: PN25
• DN150–DN300: PN16
The DN150–DN300 range is third-party approved for operation at 16 bar(g) up to 200°C, providing a significant temperature margin above standard district heating requirements (typically 120°C).
For installations with higher safety and regulatory requirements, we offer the Ramén BAS check valves.
Our BAS check valves are certified according to PED Category III.
Our VAC100 valves are certified according to PED Category IV, the highest PED classification.
This certification is required for the most critical pressure installations and ensures maximum safety, documentation and regulatory compliance.
