Graph hardness levels

Extending valve lifetime beyond ceramic solutions

By combining different surface hardening technologies, Ramén EDS achieves exceptional hardness levels of up to HV* 5000 – significantly higher than traditional solutions such as ceramic coatings, which typically reach up to HV 2000. This extreme hardness enables longer service life, reduced maintenance, and improved reliability even in the most demanding and abrasive applications.

*The Vickers hardness test is a method to measure the hardness of materials. The basic principle, as with all common measures of hardness, is to observe a material’s ability to resist plastic deformation from a standard source. The unit of hardness given by the test is known as the Vickers Pyramid Number (HV).

Aluminia plant

Customer: Alumina Plant
Media: Non-Newtonian Mud, 37-45% Solids

In this alumina plant application, Ramén EDS is used to handle highly abrasive, non-Newtonian mud containing 37–45% solids, including caustic soda and residual bauxite. These harsh conditions typically cause severe wear and corrosion in conventional solutions. With Ramén EDS, valve lifetime was increased significantly from 1 month to 12 months.
