Tank safety equipment
Tanks in tank farms and large vessels require special equipment in order to keep the process and product safe. We offer products such as tank blanketing valves, flame arrestors and pressure vacuum relief valves. All our tank safety products are engineered and manufactured by Cashco Inc.

Tank blanketing valves
Tank blanketing, also referred to as tank padding or make up, is the process of applying blanket of an inert gas (nitrogen) in the vapour space above the liquid in a closed storage tank. The inert gas is supplied at a required pressure during pump off or thermal contraction events to prevent air and moisture from entering the tank and thus reduce oxygen content in the vapour space. Other common names for N2 Blanketing valves are inert gas blanketing valves and low pressure reducing valves.

Flame arrestors
A flame arrestor (also spelled arrester) is a device that stops fuel combustion by extinguishing the flame. It allows gas and vapor to pass through but stops a flame in order to prevent a larger fire or explosion. There is an enormous variety of situations in which flame arrestors can be applied to decrease risk and improve the safety aspects. For example they can be used in fuel storage tank vents and fuel gas pipelines.

Pressure vacuum relief vents
The pressure vacuum relief vent (PVRV) is a type of valve used to control or limit the pressure or vacuum in a system or a vessel which can build up because of a process upset, instrument or equipment failure, or fire. There is always a risk that tanks may explode due to overpressure, or implode due to vacuum. To prevent explosion or implosion tank needs to breath. Because of this function, a pressure/vacuum valve is commonly referred to as a “breather valve”.

Emergency relief vents
Emergency relief vents are used on storage tanks to allow emergency flow due to excessive venting requirement from a fire burning around the tank. Using emergency relief valves eliminates costly tank ruptures by providing emergency venting from abnormal internal pressure. In the event of a fire the pallet lifts at a pre-determined pressure, supplying a large venting area.
