I/P Converters

I/P converters are used to convert an analog signal (4 to 20 mA) to a proportional linear pneumatic output (3 to 15 psig). This type of device is called I/P converter since it converts a current signal (I) to a pressure signal (P).

An IP converter is used for control applications when reliability and repeatability is required at a low cost. An integral volume booster provides high flow capacity and increasing control speed in critical applications. I/P converters are available in several different models and ranges, typical 0,2-1 bar output but also an extended range up to 10 bar for higher pressure.

How I/P converters work

An IP converter is used in control applications where reliability and repeatability are desired at a low cost. An integrated volume amplifier provides high flow capacity and increases control speed in critical applications. I/P transducers come in several different models and ranges, typically with a 0.2–1 bar output. However, there are also converters with up to 10 bar for high-pressure pneumatics.

Installation of I/P converter

The I/P converter is usually mounted on standard model pneumatic actuators or in cabinets. They are available in standard models for wall, panel or pipe mounting, as well as for DIN rail and manifold kits (optional). Multifunctional manifolds have common supply valves and individual shut-off valves.

Our different types of I/P converters

Ramén Valves offers general purpose, miniature and multipurpose I/P converters from Flowserve, ITT and ControlAir. We describe some of them below. If you want more information about our I/P converters, you are welcome to contact us or book a meeting with one of our product specialists.

I/P converter T500X from ControlAir

The ControlAir Type 500X converts a current or voltage input signal to a linearly proportional pneumatic output pressure. This versatile instrument is designed for control applications that require a high degree of reliability and repeatability at an economical cost. Optional NEMA 4X (IP65) version allows for splashdown and outdoor installation. Typically, these units are used for applications that require the operation of valve actuators, pneumatic valve positioners, damper and louver actuators, final control elements, relays, air cylinders, web tensioners, clutches, and brakes. Industries that utilize the Type 500X include Petrochemical, HVAC, Energy Management, Textile, Paper, Paper Converting, Food and Pharmaceutical.

I/P converter T550X from ControlAir

The ControlAir Type 550X is an electronic pressure regulator that converts a variable signal (current or voltage) to a proportional pneumatic output. Its compact housing, accessible ports and easy adjustments provide an ideal answer to applications that are space constrained. This economical instrument provides precision air pressure regulation to actuators, valves, positioners, and other final control elements. An integral volume booster provides high flow capacity, increasing control speed in critical applications.

I/P Converters T900X from ControlAir

The Type 900X I/P, E/P transducer converts an electrical signal (current or voltage) to a proportional pneumatic output. Utilizing closed-loop pressure feedback circuitry, it provides precise, stable pressure outputs to final control elements. Immunity to vibration effects or mounting position, high tolerance to impure air, and low air consumption make this unit ideal for demanding applications. The compact housing, accessible ports and easy adjustments make it perfect for constrained spaces. An integral volume booster provides high flow capacity, increasing control speed in critical applications.

I/P Converters T925 from ControlAir

Manifold provides a common supply port to our Type 900X and Type 550X I/P, E P transducers. Manifolds are available to hold 3, 5, 10 and 15 units. Inlet ports feature a patented individual shutoff valve that allows safe on-line service or modification with supply pressure on. Individual units may be installed or removed without affecting other units on the manifold. Construction of the manifold is simple and flexible. Connection ports thread easily into the I/P, E/P units.
No additional hardware such as check valves or adapter kits are required. The Type 925 is DIN rail mountable (optional). The Type 925 can also be used as a common output manifold for solenoid valves.
